Originally released in 1978, Prokofiev’s Peter And The Wolf placed Bowie’s unmistakable voice inside one of classical music’s great introductory works. His narration brings character, clarity and a little theatrical magic to Prokofiev’s 1936 musical tale, with the Philadelphia Orchestra giving each character theme its full orchestral colour. Side Two features Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra performing Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide To The Orchestra, making this a beautifully paired album of orchestral storytelling and musical education. The original release was Grammy-nominated and reached No. 136 on the US Pop Albums chart.
